JAEGER-LECOULTRE

I have visited Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Manufacture in Switzerland together with my sister Julia directly after Paris Fashion Week. It took me a while to select my favorite impressions from those two days. And here we go, we started the first day by arriving to the beautiful Hotel the La Reserve and continued with a visit at the Mamco Museum in Geneva –  to me a perfect start of the trip. I often go to Museums if I feel overloaded or if I am in need to clear my mind offline. We went through a private tour that day and I could not hesitate to pick a few art works and combine it with some of my favorite Jaeger-LeCoultre fine watches. Jaeger-LeCoultre made me love pocket watches, especially the object above didn’t let me sleep for weeks. Can you imagine wearing a fine woman’s suit, pulling out the pocket watch by Jaeger-LeCoultre when you got asked what time it is?

Jaeger-LeCoultre founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre, the artisan of the Manufacture combine talents and expertise to create collections which have been on the forefront of watchmaking both technically and artistically. Preserving the Heritage of Time is a deep-rooted desire within the Maison. Armed with a pencil, a blank sheet of paper, and above all the Jaeger-LeCoultre philosophy. The adventure began in 1833 when self-taught watchmaker Antoine LeCoultre set up his own workshop after inventing a pinion-cutting machine. This invention was to be followed by dozens of others, as well as hundreds of patens, each of which contributed to forging the international reputation of Swiss watchmaking. The small workshops grew so fast that it was soon nicknamed the ‚Grande Maison‘ in the Vallée de Joux. By 1888, the Manufacture already employed around 500 watchmakers, technicians and artists.

Over the past 180 years, Jaeger-LeCoultre has created and produced over 1200 different calibres and filed more than 400 patens. The birthplace of Jaeger-LeCoultre is the village of Le Sentier. Their designers, engineers and master watchmakers give form to watches that are destined to become the stuff of legend. The movement is the organ that brings the watch to life. The beating of the mechanism will forever hold the memory of whichever master artisan brought it into existence. Jaeger-LeCoultre pays tribute to craftsmanship and inventiveness by supporting artistic endeavours and encouraging the sharing of creative skills.
