The One & Only Reethi Rah, Maldives – a destination which I had for a longer while on the to-do list and it finally came true. The piece of art island stole my heart right away. It’s the largest island in North Malé Atoll. I name it the jewel among of string of coral atolls, lagoons and white sands which is about 700km southwest of Sri Lanka. The One & Only Reethi Rah is deeply glamourous. Everything seems surreal at the resort. It takes 50 minutes from Malé by yacht or 15 minutes with the seaplane. Both options are pleasant to get to the Reethi Rah. The resorts is in my opinion one of the finest destinations for Honeymooners. Many of the categories come with round-the-clock butler service. We had the best concierge we could only wish for. Most of you remember Peter from my Insta Stories who has been the best concierge and provided an excellent service during our stay. We have stayed in the Water Villa Queen N° 125. The Villa features netted wrap-around hammocks suspended over the water on the outer rim of the deck allowing for breezy moments of relaxation. Each Villa offers two Queen size bed showcasing picturesque views. The private plunge pools are increasingly a feature of the high-end rooms, as are novelties such as walk-in rain showers and dedicated spa rooms within the suite, where couples can arrange for massages.
One & Only Reethi Rah Amenities – offers beaches and pools, the One & Only spa, diving and snorkeling, Club-one, Kids-only, Fitness & Activities (The Gym is one of the biggest that I have seen at a Resort), Boutiques. Let’s come closer to detail. Beaches & Pool – six kilometers of private coastline includes 12 pristine beaches, two separate swimming pools. One for adults, the other dedicated to children and families – and a 30m long lap pool stretching into the lagoon. There are also 37 private villa pools, each with a carved stone aqua bed.
Dining at the One & Only Reethi Rah – Reethi Restaurant: Floor to ceiling glass screened open kitchen with dishes from Mediterranean to Asia Pacific are created and offers also a walk-in wine room. Tapasake: Tapas style small portion menu with Japanese cuisine, sake cocktails and a collection of Pinot Noir and Riesling wines. Fanditha: Beachside location with Arabian a la carte cuisine accompanied by champagnes and rose wines. Private Dining: Stay in your villa or dine on a traditional Dhoni or on the beach. Botanica: I have enjoyed this one the most. A la carte menu of organic food and wine. Set in the chef’s garden. You have also the option to dine in their romantic orchid house instead of their beautiful gardens. It’s open for dinner Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. And I have to say that they have by far the best breakfast that I have experienced. The One & Only Reethi Rah offers Super Foods, a fine Avocado Pouched Egg Toast and amazingly delicious Smoothies. If breakfast could always be that perfect as at the Reethi Rah, Maldives.
The One & Only Spa is located in a secluded area of the resort with expansive relaxation lawns and manicured gardens, it commands an impressive space with spectacular views of the ocean. The natural and healing therapies are based on Ayurvedic traditions infused with western luxuries provided in eight luxurious treatment villas, each nestled beneath its own thatched roof and uniquely designed to form a soothing natural environment, with exquisite finishes of Batu Chandi stone surrounding the terrace platform. Please note: The two over-water double treatment suites are an enticing retreat for couples. A visit to the One & Only spa is an all-encompassing experience incorporating swirling vitality pools, crystal steam rooms, saunas, stimulating ice fountains and lifestyle showers that recreate a refreshing burst of tropical rain. Time Zone: The One & Only Reethi Rah time has been set one hour ahead of Malé time, providing an extra hour of daylight each day: six hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time (GMT + 6).
I have to mention that I had tears in my eyes when we left the One & Only Reethi Rah. It’s rare that I become emotional when leaving a hotel or a resort. But this time the goodbye was truly moving to me and Julia. In the end all I can say is that the One & Only as the name says itself made our stay unforgettable and I will be dreaming about the resort until my next visit. The One & Only Reethi Rah was one of my highlights in 2016 and deserves a place in my travel heart.

I met Mr. Turtle while snorkeling. The turtle reef is approximately 25 minutes away from the One & Only Reethi Rah. My morning snorkel between corals and alongside Mr. Turtle was a lot of joy. The Reethi Rah offers this luxury retreat to it’s guest. I loved the chance to observe these fascinating creatures in their home territory.
„Breakfast that is worth waking up for“ – And that’s to 100% for sure.
