Still daydreaming of our Jacuzzi nights and the most beautiful sunsets at the Mystique in Santorini. I can assert with really good conscience that the island Santorini is my favorite of all Greek islands. The Mystique, looks like an own village and has been reinvented by Starwood’s Luxury Collection. The rooms are decorated in a cave-art style, views are toward to the town Fira and the Aeagean Sea. Understated, with whitewashed walls and floors. Our outdoor Jacuzzi was the best thing during sunset, with a glass of wine and snacks overlooking the Hotel’s panoramic views. The Mystique Hotel is accessed by a heart-poundingly steep staircase in one of the most private locations in Oia. Painted in cream rather than building white, the Mystique is the sister property to Vedema Resort. All rooms have Caldera views. I love the Hotel’s Infinity Pool located on the volcanic cliff above the Aegean. The mood of the luxury property is one of laid-back luxury. The Mystique Hotel was made to reinvigorate the spirit and heal the soul.
The best time to visit Santorini is Spring and Autumn, when the weather is warm and sunny and the cruise ships fewer. I have heard that September is the locals favorite month of all. Photogenic Santorini with it’s rich history, the perfect clash of blue and white. At sunset the setting sun paints the village pink and honey-gold. Fira is the capital of the island which offers a wide selection of activities. Enough with the facts, let’s come to our personal experiences. As you know, Julia and I traveled from Mykonos to Santorini. We decided to take the ferry which took approximately 2 hours from Mykonos. I was feeling slightly dizzy after the ferry ride, but better than to take two flights and a travel time of 5 hours by plane. The Mystique offers a complimentary pick-up. So, once you arrive to the island you are in good hands from the beginning. Actually, you get your mind completely free once you enter the Hotel. The panoramic views over the deep blue sea are so calming and relaxing – my very favorite kind of views and so peaceful to the human’s mind.
The à la carte breakfast offers a fine selection: delicious pancakes, greek cheese plates and very good tasting coffee variations and so on. A big plus – The Mystique serves Avocado and Almond Milk. A rarity so far in Hotels. We also had our own Gym, but have not hesitated to experience the Gym which is accessible to all Hotel guests with excellent sea views for a perfect start of the day. All in all I was truly satisfied by our stay and experienced the Mystique Hotel in a very unique way. The cozy atmosphere and the excellent service let us feel home.
