Four days full of zest of life and joy at the Blue Palace Hotel which is one of the unique Hotels of ‚The Luxury Collection‘. Getting up early in the morning to enjoy a cup of delicious coffee, watching the sunset overlooking the Cretan Sea. All this from our Terrace with a private Pool. It was more than pleasant. The greek people just known for their excellent hospitality offer more than greek salads, but also local specific fine selection from White, Rosé and Red Wine. Even the intense taste of their herbs and vegetables is something which I often miss in Germany. In those days during our trip right before the London Fashion Week we had the pleasure to enjoy the press trip with a lovely group that just worked incredibly together and it the end it was hard to say Goodbye. I really hate Goodbye’s there are for sure not my favorite thing. Once we have entered our beautiful with the most comfortable king size bed and the breathtaking views over the historical island called Spinalonga and the Aegean Sea made me forget all loads. The first evening we have enjoyed a lovely casual dinner at the Isola Restaurant with fresh italian dishes by the restaurants chef and started our second day with the traditional Caique experience which the Blue Palace offers to it’s guests.
The day out on the water swimming in the turquoise Aegean sea let me speechless. The experience ended up with a lovely lunch and a lot of super delicious Rosé. My favorite dinner was at the the ‚Blue Door Taverna‘ which offers the Cretan Feast experience. Large bonfires were lit at their private beach and we enjoyed authentic local delicacies under the distinct tunes of Cretan lyra. I don’t know if you know but Crete is a magical tapestry of Minoan ruins, some of the Mediterranean’s most celebrated beaches, dreamy villages, countless tiny churches and dramatic gorges, where locals share their traditions, wonderful cuisine and a uniquely generous spirit. A connection where people can cultivate a connection to what they eat, drink an experience. And for Greeks, Crete is the unrivaled culinary capital. The Blue Palace offers the ‚Olea Restaurant‘ which can be experienced by guests of the Island Luxury Suites and Private villas.
The ‚Flame‘ which is the classic Restaurant that offers steak cuts and local fish served on large wooden platters, complemented by the freshest ingredients from carefully selected small-scale producers the in the surroundings area and their bio gardens. The ‚Blue Door‘ that celebrates the typical Greek Taverna. The ‚Asia Blue‘, an Asian Restaurant that serves a range of Japanese, including Sushi to Thai and beyond. And last but not least the ‚Isola‘ that offers fresh Italien dishes. As you recognized in these captures, the Blue Palace has a touch of Moroccan architecture. What I need to say is that their service was brillant. From house keeping to room service the Cretan employees work with all their heart. It was heart melting and I rarely say that because that kind of attitude is nowadays super rare. Their award winning Elounda Spa & Thalassotherapy is a perfect sanctuary of relaxation and revitalization. Featuring a fully equipped 24/7 fitness center, a hair salon, 24 treatment rooms, 3 Thalassotherapy pools. One of the most exciting experiences to me was the Greek Cuisine Cooking Class – it’s one of the things that I truly need to improve and learned a lot during that class. I was traveling together with my sister Julia who also uploaded a very charming article about the Blue Palace Hotel. Here is a glimpse of memories, my personal travel diary and I would love to let the images speak by itself and hope that you can at least take a few minutes off and continue day dreaming.
