The last 2 months and especially the last few 2-3 weeks were quite hectic for us. My sister and I feel tired after all travels. As creatives we always need to have a clear and focussed mind, to be creative, to realize concepts, photographs and videos for socials and the blog. Our bodies and souls are in ideal case in balance at all the time, but the truth is that we rarely find time to focus on nutrition, sleep and fitness even not really on our private life. In the digital age, there is an daily overload of mails, messages, phone calls + a flood of informations / pictures all over Social Media. Don’t get us wrong, we love what we do, but from time to time we need to step away and re-charge our inner battery to keep the strength and balance for this fast living digital world we are living in. Each of us human being is responsible for it’s own well-being and health and as our mind is never taking some rest, our stress level is quite high with daily performance to perfectionism, we came to the point of feeling exhausted, unmotivated, drowsy and maybe to be honest a little bit depressed. When we got the request if we would like to spend a week at Lanserhof Tegernsee which is a health resort based on a medical concept – the only thing we had in mind was a clear YES!
We arrived last Sunday and needed the time to ‚move in‘, to get an insight of what will happen in the next days. We will be sharing a daily diary from Lanserhof Tegernsee during our stay from now on. It will consist an insight of our ‚Health Schedule‘ which we got after our arrival when we had the Bioimpedance, followed by a Medical Examination. The professionals get an overall of your health after analyzing examinations and diagnostics and create an individual program and diet for the stay. We have decided to share our diary together on my website since as it is no secret anymore that we will launch an online magazine by end of this year.
A stay at Lanserhof is communicated as a journey to yourself. The medical concept offers the most modern and holistic medicine, enduring regeneration and prevention. Their doctors and specialists belong to the most prominent experts in their fields. The medi-clinic follows the F.X. Mayr therapy. Until this state-of-the-art retreat opened, there was nowhere you could detox Mayr-Style in a five-star luxury. We had an early morning flight from Hamburg to Munich. Once we arrived at the Munich Airport, a driver from Lanserhof Tegernsee picked us up to get us to the health resort. My first appointment took place at the bath house / sports room where a professional did the bioimpedance analysis with me. It’s a valuable tool for measuring your body composition. A great opportunity as I was looking to get all the facts about my body construction. Around 01.50 pm I had my second appointment at the Lans Medical Clinic where I got to know my doctor who’s taking care of me during the whole week. We started with a 40 minutes initial medical examination. Despite the stress level that Sylvia and I reached the last months, I also came to the Lanserhof Tegernsee to relax, to experience the X.F. Mayr therapy, but also to get an answer about my body situation. I lost weight in the last three months by taking care what I am eating and doing lot of sports. But my body stopped loosing weight and I have no clue why. So that’s one more reason to figure out what happened to solve this problem and start successfully new as soon as I’m back in Hamburg.
Monday. My wake-up call started at 07.00 am. I was super surprised as I slept over 9 hours ( that’s kind of rare for me ). First things first, we went straight on to have some breakfast. On today’s menu: omega 3 mash with buckwheat bread. No water, before and after the meal. I even did not finish my breakfast as I needed to chew each bite 30 times ( belongs to the Mayr therapy, eating the right food improves our health gut ). Also, my saturation feeling started after 20 minutes. I felt full, you cam believe it or not. Try it by your own. At 12.30 pm the Lanserhof Tegernsee served lunch. Finally some carbs. I got exactly two potatoes, goat camembert and buckwheat bread. I felt energized and my stomach was filled ( even if it last for a few hours ). I spent the rest of the day by heading from one appointment to another one at the Lans Medical Clinic. On my health schedule: a detox drainage, a foot reflexology treatment and a initial medical examination with my doctor. The medical examination was very informative, but I am also scared as she mentioned that she would like to do a thyroid sonography on Wednesday. I was telling my doctor that my weight stagnated and she tries to figure out what happened. I can’t tell you more for now, but I will keep you updated.
As we mentioned in our introduction, Julia and I really needed to take time off. I feel tired since a long time. Especially the last two years were very difficult for me – emotionally and business wise. I am traveling a lot around, my nutrition gets really bad during those travels. Not sure if you are familiar with, but our bowel plays a big role on our well-being. Either you feel healthy, positive and full of energy or you feel depressed, aggressive, restless and tired. After seeing my doctor here at Lanserhof Tegernsee, she created a ‚Health Schedule‘ for my personal needs, stress level and blood work including the Mayr method. My Monday started with a light breakfast by 7AM. I don’t get much to eat now until Friday, my diet is strict and I am allowed to choose between milk and yoghurt variations for breakfast and lunch. For dinner I can choose between two soups. I have to say that I thought I would not make it, but I have survived Day 1 and Day 2. In between breakfast and lunch I had to see my doctor for a retreat, followed by a Vitamine Infusion which took an hour, ending up the day with a Detox Drainage – all I can say is that I feel limp and tired at this moment. I guess I will fall asleep by 8PM as yesterday.
Today I had no desire to get up, my first appointment took place by 7:40 AM. I went to the Lans Medical Clinic for a blood decrease. On todays breakfast agenda: avocado spread, slices of buckwheat toast and oat milk. Todays schedule was filled with a few appointments, by 9 AM I had a Derma Therapy where I got a natural detox treatment, afterwards I had some time to relax and used the occasion to take a short nap before my therapist came to visit me in my room for a hay liver wrap. Let’s see what the rest of the day will bring.
7 AM morning call, I started the day with a glass of bitter salt. 7:30 AM breakfast continues with a cup of rice milk and oat bread. What I had on the Health Schedule so far; Craniosacral therapy – the therapy believes that everyone is born with an underlying infinite order or intelligence or ‚vital force‘ energy (often referred to as ‚chi‘ in Chinese Medicine. The same intelligence that keeps your heart beating and runs your body. The constant undetectable intelligence is carried by the nervous system to every cell in your body supplying it with all the information it needs to function as planned, every day. The therapist calls this innate intelligence. If every cell of your body is functioning at 100% then you will have optimal health.
Unfortunately structural imbalances and spinal misalignments can interfere with the transmission of this innate intelligence, causing imbalance and altered cell formation that in time can create many health problems and disease. So, the main job of a Craniosacral therapist is to help correct structural imbalances in the human body allowing the innate intelligence to go where it needs to go and to restore impeded circulation, alleviate and nerve impingement and thus allowing dysfunctional cells to help themselves. The treatment lasted to 50 minutes, and what I took out of these 50 minutes is that I breathe very shallow. Better breathing can mean better health. Short, shallow breathing causes a cascade of negative effects in the body. And who does not breathe deeply ensures that the lower abdominal organs are not optimally supplied with oxygen.
Todays learning: Pay more attention to yourself and listen to your body. Breath deeply and don’t let stress or hectic situations pretending you from breathing, because it burdens your organs.
2:50 PM – I just came back from my ‚functional training‘ in the Lanserhof Tegernsee Gym. Just to mention: Functional training helps with strength, stability and mobility which we need in life and sports. Those 50 minutes were very instructive for me as I am sitting mostly during the day in front of my computer and this really does not make the best body posture. I learned how to use my body properly. So, the training is based on free exercises for the stabilization and health of the movement apparatus. An important rule is made by the trunk, the main stabilizer of a human being. Many exercises of the functional training usually take place on both legs. A stable hip, for example, has a positive effect on the hip joint and well as on the knee and ankle joint. My trainer showed me some ‚beginners exercises‘. I am excited to learn what I can do for my abdominal muscles and shoulder blade tomorrow. The training was not easy for me, since I have never done it before. I will have to internalize the exercises first… Let’s see what my second session will bring.
Some good news to spread: I finally feel energized and full of positive energy today. I am not tired at all. I don’t feel exhausted or hungry. My last appointment for the day: a 50 minute healing massage (muscular deep massage). Until then I will hang by the pool and enjoy some serious greens around.
Day 4 at Lanserhof Tegernsee. I had a busy day so far and it goes on until 6PM. On today’s agenda: a initial medical examination, the thyroid sonography, two treatments, a orthopedic examination and last but not least a spiroergometry. On the initial medial examination I spoke to my doctor about my thyroid this morning. The test result: everything is fine. During the day I will enjoy two treatments which are based on mind and balance, but before that a professional will check back and take a closer look on my knee. I noticed some conspicuities that occurred during work outs or sudden movements. I am truly curious what the orthopedic surgeon will find out. 4PM Time for the spiroergometry – lung volumes and ventilation size will be measured here. I was too tired to update the blog yesterday. Let me quickly let you know what was on my schedule. My Wednesday started with a Marma point massage which made me honestly so sleepy. But what are Marma Points? In Sanskrit, Marma means vulnerable or sensitive zones. A Marma point is defined as a point where the muscles, joints, bones, ligaments or tendons come together and are used in Marma point to balance flow of energy in the human body, much like working with acupuncture points in Chinese medicine. Benefits: reduces nervousness & anxiety, helps to reduce dizziness, reduces tingling in the fingertips, counteracts external life stress, increases energy, builds general body strength, reduces muscular aches and pains including back and neck ache. Had a nap so far so good for 1 1/2 h, headed then directly to lunch and ended up my afternoon by an appointment with my doctor. She has let me know that I have been poisoning my body for example with alcohol, orange juice and fruits which together makes more than a glass of alcohol. I have reddish cheeks which is a sign of toxin under my skin. A woman is allowed to have a glass of wine per day, but if you add up a glass of orange juice, a smoothie and more fruits it ends up to become a fermenting alcohol soup in the intestine. It poisons not only the organs, but also your blood and ultimately your skin. It also poisons your soul; you become aggressive, negative and restless. In the evening I have attended a nutrition class by Nicole Heidinger. If you ever come here, please take your time and attend her class. On Friday I will use the chance and take part of a vegan cooking class, such as the elaboration of a nutrition plan. I truly need to change my diet, but I will tell you more about it on Friday.
Believe it or not. The sun came to visit us. I started my day with a morning dip, enjoyed some sun beams on my skin, followed by a very calming treatment named ‚Inner Balance‘. The therapist focusses on head, face and works with oils from Subtle Energy. This treatment was so far the most calming. Also on the agenda: a electrolytic foot bath, foot reflexology massage, a manicure (So happy my nails look super good again. A little beauty treat can make a difference) an hour of functional training and a sauna session. A great day came to the end. Great things to spread; Lanserhof Tegernsee offers numerous cosmetic treatments – from a coiffeur visit to manicure and pedicure, to facial treatments with hyaluronic acid … the list is endless. And you won’t get tired choosing additional treatments during your stay.
I would like to get a bit closer to detail. How does a iconic foot bath work? I have soaked my feet for 30 minutes in a foot bath filled with saltwater. Low-voltage electrical currents are applied to the water to create positive and negative ions. The negative ions are then purported to enter the body through osmosis to subsequently attack toxins. While there are reports of water changing color during the process, which is often mistakenly attributed as evidence the body is releasing toxins, the true case is iron oxidation – specifically, the water interacting with the metals of the device. Benefits: it increases energy levels, reduced headache, an enhanced sense of calm, and improves sleep. It also can enhance liver and kidney functions, strengthen immunity and better protect against diseases. Today’s feel-good factor: I feel motivated and balanced.
Day 5 at Lanserhof Tegernsee. During the last days I have learned a lot about my nutrition, my body, my mind and my inner balance. What really gave an important input to my mind was yesterdays nutrition class. Some short facts to share for now: Did you know that we should only use butter or coconut oil for cooking? We should only use unsaturated fats. We should never heat oils such linseed oil or olive oil. Some useful information will be uploaded by tomorrow in a longer diary. I am truly scared if I will make a way to integrate all the new nutrition ways into my hectic work life. In my previous lines I told you about my orthopedic appointment. The result: Everything is fine with my knee, the only thing I will get is a knee bandage that I have to use during workouts.
LANSERHOF COOKING CLASS
Short review of the Day; 8AM Spiroergometry, 8:46AM Breakfast, 9:30 AM Pedicure, 11:30 AM elaboration of a neutron plan, 12PM Lunch, 1PM Natural Detox Birch Treatment, 2:20PM Vegan Cooking Class, 4PM Medical examination. 5PM Dinner. The positive happenings where the treatments and the cooking class today, my medical examination and spiroerometry results were not as positive as I have hoped. There are many things which I need to improve in my work life, such as my nutrition needs to get a makeover. Todays vegan cooking class was a blast. We’ve got some recipes that are easy to imitate at home and that do not take much time. Since my neutron was not truly healthy the last years, I will need to continue the Mayr method for a few more weeks. Approximately 3-4 additional weeks. Luckily I will stay in Hamburg during August which will allow me to continue the Mayr method hopefully easily since I am already in and it won’t get too challenging for me. Once I will finally clean out my gut, I will be able to cook some of the delicious and super healthy dishes from todays cooking class. My nutritionist Nicole Haidinger recommended that I should step away from mixing to many vegetables on one plate, since my my gut is very sensitive. A great website to share a long is named ‚life food‚- they offer vegan raw food which you can easily take with you on the go.
As I am a coffee lover I was truly upset that I won’t be able to drink coffee anymore. But I have got the confirmation that it’s fine to enjoy 2-3 cups per day with almond, rice of macadamia milk for example. I will have to be patient until September. Oh, September! A month I look forward to – its when I will enjoy my very first cup of coffee again. A few might know that Julia and I are traveling a lot around and especially during those travels we get a unhealthy nutrition. I never find healthy dishes at the airport, even not often during lunch or dinner meetings with clients. Its quite challenging to eat healthy without being blamed. I truly loved going out for dinner, but my health results made me realize that I need to step away from the ‚Dolce Vita‘ or lets better name it unhealthy life and to finally change the things up. 28/7 + 29/7 Julia
We will leave the Lanserhof Tegernsee tomorrow by 9AM. To be honest, I am not ready yet. I would love to stay two or three more weeks. I truly became a fan of the Medical Concept and believe in the Mayr therapy. I think it will be hard to continue and integrate it in my daily life for the next two weeks. All examinations and diagnostics I did during the last seven days were super informative. I learned a lot about nutrition, discomforts, my stress level and personal needs. Actually, I had become a better version of myself.
I mean, in case you decide to book a stay at the Lanserhof Tegernsee, please don’t think that this will be something like ‚holidays‘. You will restart at the health resort that is based on a medical concept. And of course, you will also go through some hard times and pain ( e.g. headache ), but all this is totally worth to experience as it’s a part of the Mayr therapy. The good thing, you are not alone. Everyone who is coming to this place is doing the same. Sylvia and I met so many lovely and warm-hearted people who became friends. It’s weird to write it, but it feels like family. We supported, motivated and helped each other going through this week. I couldn’t be more thankful that I was able to experience this unique time at Lanserhof.
We had our last appointments that were on our health schedule. I did yoga for the second time in my life and loved it! I was surprised as I did not like it the first time. Now I will try to integrate it in my gym schedule that I am doing at home. Afterwards I had a pedicure, had lunch with my new ‚family‘. In the afternoon Sylvia and I rent two Lanserhof e-bikes to drive to the Lake Tegernsee. It was truly amazing as we went there before sunset.
Please excuse, I had an exhausting Saturday and was unable to share my happenings. It has been our last day at Lanserhof Tegernsee. The idea of extending pleased my mind. Additional two weeks would have been great, not only for my health but also for my mind and soul. I finally found some time off to reflect in the last days in this peaceful scenery. One of my highlights – we have met lovely people from all over the world. There was a certain cohesion – we exchanged at breakfast, lunch and dinner and supported each other during the Mayr cure. There are two personalities with whom we will hopefully be reunited anywhere in the world. Helga and Dennis – without these two it would not have been so entertaining and inspiring during our stay. I even lost a tear today when we were departing. I will never forget our facial expressions when we got from our 1/1 diet to 2/1. Let me shortly explain. 1/1 Breakfast: You can choose between milk or yoghurt variations + bread. For lunch: Same ….same as breakfast and for dinner you choose between two soups. 2/1 makes everything more convienient, in the morning you can choose between an oatmeal or omega 3 pulp with honey and for lunch you get a portion of rise with steamed vegetables or potatoes with protein and bread. For dinner they serve a soup.
We treated each other in a kind and very polite way which I often miss in every day life. I enjoyed their company very much and it truly touched my heart what great conversations and good time we had. We have talked about the idea to meet somewhere else in Japan for healthy food someday. One thing needs to be said, during your stay you will meet many interesting characters which help you to go through the Mayr cure easily. So, you can also go by yourself and you will for sure make new friends or even meet a soulmate. My ‚Health Schedule‘ of the day: Final examination with my Doctor Sabine Retmair. She built me up even if my health results were not positive and gave me great insights into the intestine topic during the week. I have to continue the Mayr cure for additional 3-4 weeks at home and my health will change positively day by day. Could say it over and over again; I am so thankful that we got the opportunity to experience the Lanserhof Tegernsee. This peaceful cocoon is the place where to re-charge and step away from the hectic life. It cleans your body and mind and leaves a calm note in any way. I feel balanced and positive and I am looking forward for September when my gut will recover from all the stress and bad nutrition of the recent years. Lanserhof Tegernsee was exactly the right thing to experience before it will get stressful in September again. I guess its even better to experience it if you are in a healthier condition. I can recommend a stay from all my heart. Don’t expect holidays here, rather a medical retreat and cleanse for body and soul.
