St. Pancras / London

London Impressions & my stay in the St. Pancras Renaisannce Hotel
I was invited to travel to one of my favorite cities -  London! Unfortunately I am not able to communicate the reason about my trip to the UK, but I can share my LDN impressions and my beautiful stay at the 5 star luxury St. Pancras Renassaince Hotel with you. I also tried out the SPA and room service and I was honestly very satisfied about their excellent service and kindness. The story behind the imagery is written under the photo's.  We are starting with a few of my Instagram Snapshots.

The St. Pancras SPA

I just loved the SPA so much, a sumptuous, subterranean sanctuary with sauna, steam rooms, spa and Victorian tiled baths, their spa is truly the heaven of tranquillity and restoration. I started my evening with some pool swimming and ended up in the sauna. If you ever go to the St. Pancras, please promise to try out the Gym and Spa. It's so worth it.

Some of you might know that Victoria's Secret opened a huge store in the New Bond Street. I was very excited to visit the VS shop and I must say it turned out very beautiful.

And to the right, I was totally impressed by the beauty of the 'Wild at Heart' florist, you might remember from my last London Diary. Loved those bright colors on that dreary and dark days.

Knock, Knock... Room Service at the St. Pancras

Halibut - braised savoy cabbage, smoked salomon, crushed new potatoes. Damn, that was really good.

The Midland Grand Nine stonemasons were employed to carve the legion of capitals, headstops and gargoyles that decorated the building inside and out. In the Dining Room and Coffee Room, pillars of polished limestone lined the walls, their golded capitals carved with conkers, pea pods and bursting pomegranates. The Ladies Smoking Room (no picture in this post) - the first public room in Europe in which women were permitted to smoke.

The Grand Staircase In the right image above, every chambers room has a story of painstaking renovation to tell. The Grand Staircase, where ballgowns, top hats and taily may have given way to less formal dress codes, but where the ceiling decoration is as it was in the hotels heyday, with it's fleur-de-lis patterning fully restored and the Seven virtues awoken from their slumber by the wisdom, justice, courage, temperance, faith, hope and charity of a truly remarkable renaissance.

The St. Pancras, it is in the tale of a true renaissance; a national treasure that was almost reduced to rubble but that is today, once again, the pride of London. Did you know? Scenes of many motion pictures have been filmed in the hotel, including: Batman (1989), Bridget Jones Diary (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) and Batman Begins (2005). In 1996 the unknown Spice Girls filmed their first video, for Wannabe, in the corridors and rooms of the hotel's ground floor.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Happy Holidays!
